Hi Friends. We certainly had some fun last night with record numbers joining us. In all 32 came along which included 8 new members and 2 guests. Our Jim did a splendid job keeping us all in check despite John being a bit slow shouting out the chords and he promises to try and keep up next time. Both our "intermediates" and our "novices" did very well after their coaching sessions and Mick was delighted with everybody in his session who played for us. Our two "doggy buying ladies" did especially well having never picked up a Uke before which surprised even their husbands who were in attendance and bet John that they would never get up on the mike and play and sing as they did. Well done to you two and thanks to hubby for your kind donation to our club funds. (I have a feeling it is going to cost him a little bit more now his wife is looking to buy her first Uke!)
Sheila generated £16 for club funds as a result of our raffle which is a little disappointing given their were 32 in attendance! It is worth remembering that our monthly raffle is their to help support the club financially and is a important revenue stream for us. Your support will enable us to continue to make these Monday evening get together's more secure and I would urge you all to please support this next time either by buying a ticket or even donating a prize so please have a look in your cupboards. After all where else could you get 2 and 1/2 hours of fun and friendship for £1 these days?
Our Cliff is in the process of installing some entertaining videos of the bands performance last Saturday in Ashford town centre onto our web site so please watch out for these.
The club has a road trip this coming weekend up to the George Formby Society's annual convention in Blackpool so if you fancy it give John a call on 0772 9999276 or Dave on 0777 3797457 to arrange. That's all for now folks and we all look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. Bye for now...
