Dear Member,
What a night of festive fun and frolics as The IUC held its very first Christmas Party. The evening was helped by a splendid turnout of 55 members their family's and friends who all joined in with the merriment and laughter and which very quickly got us all in the spirit of what Christmas is all about..

                                                             Having fun!

The evening started with a quick look back to where we have come from in the past 8 months and what has been achieved thanks to you our most valued members of our club. Special mentions of thanks were passed for the efforts of those members who in this time have gone that extra mile to help make the club the success it is and I make no apologies for reminding you all again of the debt of thanks we owe to these very special people. Firstly, Sheila who as our treasurer collects your money and keeps the books in the black......Val who assists Sheila and keeps you all under control......Jim our most excellent band leader who has taken on this difficult role with great gusto and is now making his own mark by leading as every good leader should..... from the front! Last but not least The IUC Band who during the past 5-6 months has "flown the flag" on behalf of our club and continues to act as ambassadors for the club at the many and varied public performances they carry out. It is important to mention that all these people receive no reward other than developing their friendship with one another and all give their time and skills freely in order to provide enjoyment for others which I think you will agree is a rare quality in this day and age.
But lets not forget you our members who have supported us during this time by turning up every two weeks and joining in and making the club so popular. Many of you have actively encouraged your friends to come along and by doing so swelled our ranks and made our family even bigger so well done to you too. Another very special and greatly appreciated partnership is with our main sponsors Su & Chris from Right Track Music who has continued to support, help and guide us during our first year as a music based club.
The "2011 IUC Awards" which must now become a regular annual feature saw a plethora of members entertain us with our "most astute and knowledgeable" judges Gerry, Sheila and Harry awarding points based on each individual performance. Those worthy of special mention are as follows; Cliff, Bob, Jim, Jan, Sam, Andrew & Olivia, Maggie & Dave, Larry & Penny, Mary & David and last but not least the Three Degrees or as we know them, Janice, Chris & Helen. Well done to you all and keep those valuable solid gold trophy's polished! (but don't rub too hard as the gold might come off!)
An excellent buffet was provided by David Fourniller (also one of our members) and a special thanks to Donner from the Elwick Club who provided the room and bar free for the night. Thank you.
We have two special meetings coming up in the new year and again your are cordially invited to attend.

The IUC Band Meeting. Wednesday 11th Jan 2012 Flying Horse Boughton Aluph Starting @ 20.00.
This non-playing get together is to discuss and agree our band objectives and plans for 2012. All club members are invited to attend if they are interested in joining the band in either a playing or supporting role. We currently have a number of arears within the band which you may have a special skill to offer so please come along and join in the discussions.
The IUC Club Annual General Meeting. 18th Jan 2012 Flying Horse Boughton Aluph Starting @20.00.
Again a non-playing event where you will have the opportunity to stand up and say your piece! Come along and share your views or just listen to how your club is being run. Better still why not become a more active member and become part of the clubs new management team? Either way you will be made most welcome to join us.

Finally, on behalf of The Invicta Ukulele Club and it's founder members may I take this opportunity to wish you, your family and your friends a very merry Christmas and a most prosperous New Year.
Compliments of the Season,
The IUC.

ps, Our next normal club night is on 9th of Jan 2012 @ 19.30 in The Elwick Club. See you there.........
